On Thursday, September 4, 2025, the angel of death entered the home in Renova, MS and
peacefully carried away the soul of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and
friend-Abraham McKnight.
Abraham was given as a gift from God to Alex McKnight Sr. and Naomi Porter-McKnight. He was
born on August 22, 1957, in Cleveland, MS. He was the eighth of ten children born to this union.
Abraham accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age, where he, his mother,
father, and siblings attended Seven Star M.B. Church later renamed Union Grove M.B. Church in
Zumbro, MS., under the leadership of S.P. Price. As an adult, Abraham continued his walk with
Christ until his departure on September 4, 2025, in Renova, Ms.
He attended East Side High School shortly after high school, he pursued his dream and joined
the United States Army. After his honorable separation from the United States Army, he
pursued carpentry. He diligently worked with his late cousin Matthew McKnight, who inspired
him and praised him for his craftmanship. Abraham was gifted, with extraordinary proficiency
and technical skills in the carpentry and other mechanical skills. His family and friends relied on
him to fix what was broken or build something new. He was always giving of himself and rarely
asked for anything in return.
He was exceptionally devoted to his family and friends. He was slow to speak and believed
strongly in family ties. His charming personality and serene countenance shall serve as a legacy
to all of us who were privileged to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alex McKnight Sr., and Naomi Porter-McKnight, his
siblings, David McKnight, Augustine McKnight-McClellan, Stella McKnight-Fluellen, and Susan
McKnight of Cleveland, MS.
Abraham McKnight leaves to rejoice in his homegoing: a loving and devoted wife, Alora
Gungob-McKnight, his beautiful daughters, Naomi Nacole McKnight and Allyssa McKnight, his
siblings, Angeline McKnight-Cox, Alex (Bobbie) McKnight Jr., Gloria McKnight-(Saddle)McCain,
of Ruleville, MS, Martha McKnight, of Memphis, TN, and Johnny Melvin McKnight, of Cleveland,
MS., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends and his favorite niece Sharon
McKnight-Stewart.
