Charles Washington Obituary

On 15th November 1943, the Washington family of Mound Bayou, MS experienced a 6th blessing with the birth of Charles Hillard Washington to Eugene and Marie Washington.
Charles Hillard Washington passed on 3rd March 2023. Charles was raised in a Christian household and had always known about Jesus Christ. At an early age, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and made Him the center of his life. Charles strived to live according to God's will and devoted himself to prayer, love, and
faith.
Charles H. Washington made history when he graduated from MS Valley State, in Itta Bena MS on his wedding day - May 28th, 1966 - making him 30 minutes late for his own nuptials! But what a tale to tell the grandkids! He and Thomasena created a beautiful family of three: Venita Maria, Charles, Jr. and Esha Nicole, plus eight adored grandchildren and a whole slew of great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Marie Washington, four brothers, David W. Washington, Henry Washington, James E. “Happy” Washington and Eugene “Sony” Washington Jr as well as two sisters, Ethel Gilmore and Jennie R. Washington. Thomasena Washington will remember her late beloved husband fondly, accompanied in honoring his memory by their oldest daughter, Venita Washington of Oxford, MS, his namesake Charles Washington Jr., and baby girl Esha Washington both of Clinton, MA, Eight grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Two brothers: Darolyn Washington of Pace, MS and Albert (Kia) Washington of Washington, DC; and ten sisters: Sharolyn (Allen) Price of Jacksonville, FL; Curtissa Allen of Pace, MS; Maria Diane Morris of Jackson, MS; Estella (Eugene) Williams of Pace, MS; Doretha (Henry) Knox of Pace, MS; Johnnie Watkins of Chicago, IL; Arie Roland of Jackson, MS; Callie Franklin of Chicago, IL: Merdise Lee of Chicago, IL and Lee Ethel Scott of Portland Oregon. Charles was also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members & friends. He will be greatly missed, and his legacy of faith, love and kindness will live on through all of the lives he touched.
Charles was a dedicated and hardworking man who always put his family first, going on trips, and playing with his grandchildren. He was known for his kindness and generosity.
Charles Hillard Washington will be remembered for his faith, courage and strength. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
