Eddie Roundtree Obituary

Obituary
Eddie Lewis Roundtree

Eddie Lewis Roundtree was the seventh child of 15 children born to the late Willie and Lillie Bell
Roundtree on December 11, 1952, in Cleveland, Mississippi.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age and was baptized at White Star Missionary Baptist
Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.C. Jordan.
Eddie attended Cleveland High School and went on to work for over 40 years in the field of carpentry
with Cleveland Lumber Company and Roy Collins Construction, where he retired.
Eddie was a loving son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, and friend to all who knew him.
He really loved to use his awesome carpentry skills to build beautiful works of art like furniture, picture
frames, miniature churches, etc. He truly loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends,
especially during the holidays. Additionally, he loved going to church and delivering gifts to local nursing
home residents on Christmas eve with his friend, Sherry Johnson.
He was also a sports fan who supported both the high schools even back when they were the Cleveland
High School Wildcats and Eastside High School Trojans. So, he would attend their home games and
follow them to their games away from home with his friends to support and cheer them on to victory!
He was a true diehard fan and supporter of our young folks. He also loved traveling to visit his family and
traveling with his family to visit beautiful cities and places in the United States. On Wednesday,
December 13, 2023, at approximately 9:00 p.m., after a courageous battle and continued strong faith in
Jesus, Eddie passed away at his home with his family by his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lillie Bell Roundtree; sisters, Minnie Roundtree,
Barbara Jean (Paul) Long, and Dorothy Jean (Sammy) Rhue; and brothers, Donnie Roundtree, Larry
(Ethel) Roundtree and Willie Roundtree, and four brothers and one sister who passed away while still
infants/toddlers.
Eddie is survived by his sisters, Edna Joyce (Kenneth) Roundtree-McCoy of Cleveland, Mississippi, and
Shirley (Thomas) Scarbrough of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brother, Theotis Roundtree of Cleveland,
Mississippi; his oldest niece who was like a sister, Samantha Roundtree of Cleveland, Mississippi; two
young men he helped raised who were like sons to him; his very close friend who was like a sister who helped the family care for him, Sherry
Johnson of Shelby, Mississippi, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
