Emmett Mitchell, Sr.

Emmett Mitchell Sr. was born in Merigold, Mississippi to the late Selyus & Gommer Mitchell Sr.  He was called home to glory on Saturday, June 22, 2024.  He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at New Salem Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife, Virginia L. Mitchell. 

He leaves to mourn in passing five children, Santo Mitchell of Memphis, TN, Chaundra Sessom (Odell) of Austin, TX, Michael Mitchell (Vita) of Austin, TX, Mark T. Mitchell of Huntsville, AL, Emmett Mitchell, Jr. (Tameka) of Atlanta, GA. 

He is loved by his five brothers and two sisters, Warner Mitchell (Delois) of Maywood, IL, Elmer Mitchell of Memphis, TN, David Mitchell of Milwaukee, WI, Gommer Jr. (Gwen) of Memphis, TN, Essie Mobley (Bill) of Memphis, TN, Marvia Smith of Chicago, IL, and Vernell Mitchell of Memphis, TN.  In addition, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Mitchell and Joseph Mitchell; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
