Reflections of Life
Floyd, 86 passed away in Shelby, Thursday, June 27, 2024. He was born on June 20, 1938 to Floyd, Sr. and Jenny Young in Bladon Spring, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of New Salem MB church in Merigold/Mound Bayou under the leadership of the late Rev. Trueville Black and later Rev. Vernell Smith, Jr.
Floyd was employed with Jimmy Sanders for 30 years and retired a happy truck driver who was affectionately known as “Racoon.” He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Floyd was united in holy matrimony to Mary June Smith on December 29, 1959. He is preceded in death by wife Mary June and children; Jacqueline Sue, Clifton Floyd, Thomas Buford, Johnny and Loretta.
Leaving to cherish his memories; children Dandy (Marsha) Sanders of Bartlett, TN; Malicho (Brian) Taborn of Matteson, IL; Fredrick Keith Young of Jackson; Euracia Michelle (Michael) Thompson of Clinton; Coretta (Clinton) Bell of Renova; Eric Lashon Young of Clinton and Tomeka Young of Cleveland; two sisters Ruby Lang and Margaret Rogers of Mobile, AL; 18 grandchildren, 8 great grands and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
