Obituary of Jimmie “Jip” Davis

July 26, 1948-June 17, 2026

Jimmie Davis was born on July 26, 1948 in Beulah MS. He was the fourth of six children, born to Roosevelt and Emma Davis. He professed hope and belief in Christ at an early age. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt & Emma Davis: three brothers, Joe Davis, Roosevelt Davis Jr., Leo Davis, and a new born baby sister: he was also preceded in death by a step son, Patrick Pierre Williams. He worked for Minnesota Department of Transportation for a number of years before retiring and returning to Mississippi. Upon returning to Mississippi, Jimmie met and married Patricia Lunford on July 28, 2016.

Jimmie transitioned peacefully on Wednesday June 17, 2026 at St. Francis Memorial hospital in Memphis TN. Jimmie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories to his wife, Patricia Davis of Rosedale, MS; One step-sister: LeAna McCoy (Tim): of  Beulah, MS:  One brother, Henry Davis (Cindy), of Roscoe, ILL: three  daughters: Alicia & Melissa Davis of St. Paul MN: Emma Davis of Mankato MN: one step-daughter, Portsha Gordon (Art) of Boston MA: Three sons, Jimmie Davis Jr.(Camille), Shelton Davis, & Cedric Davis of St. Paul MN: and one step-son: Zavier Jones of Rosedale, MS: and a brother-in-law, Isaac Franklin Jr.(Elvera) of Greenville, MS.

Jimmie’s memories will also be treasured by 12 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren; one close cousin/sister: Barbara Pope of Rosedale, MS; a best friend: Billy McKenzie of Beulah, MS; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, strength, and presence.
