Melvin Jones Obituary

Mr. Melvin L. Jones was born on July 26, 1959, in Cleveland, Mississippi to the late Mr. Aster Crawford
and Ms. Doretha Jones. He departed this life on January 19, 2025 in the privacy of his home.

Melvin accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at United Baptist Church under the leadership of
Rev. Sammie Rash. He later became a member of Greater New Kingdom M.B. Church in Cleveland,
Mississippi under the leadership of the late Rev. Randolph Seals Sr., in October of 1995 and continued
faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Randolph Seals Jr. He served as an Usher and active
doorkeeper until he departed this life. Melvin also could be found teaching Sunday School every 3rd
Sunday.

Melvin attended H.M. Nailor Elementary School and later becoming a proud graduate from East Side
High School, Class of 1977. Through his educational journey Melvin was gifted with some lifelong friends
who he shared many lasting memories with, (Mr. Mose Winters, Mr. James Moore, Mr. Edell Payne, and
Mr. Lasalle Miller).

Melvin worked many years at Baxter Healthcare Corporation in Cleveland, Mississippi where he worked
for 43 years as a setup operator until his health began to decline. Melvin was a walking book on knowing
the ends and outs when it came down to getting a filter to pass testing, how long to flush a filter and
prompt start up time. He enjoyed rendering his assistance whenever called upon.

Melvin had a lasting sense of humor that left a mark upon whoever he meets like only he can do. Melvin
was known for being an excellent cook and he welcomed the challenge to anyone who felt they could out
cook him. He was approachable and would always greet you with a smile. He would often, before
departing your presence, tell a joke just to make you laugh.
