Robert Levi Ferguson was born on April 6, 1951 to the union of Annyce Armstrong and Samuel
Ferguson Sr. of Shelby, Mississippi.
He accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 11 years old. He grew up in a Christian
home. He participated in Sunday School and other church activities under the Ecclesiastes of
the late Reverend W. L. Jones at Turner Chapel M.B. Church/Bethel A.M.E. Church. He later
united with Greater New Kingdom M.B. Church where he served in a dedicated, committed, and
faithful capacity until his health began to deteriorate.
Robert Levi received his formal education at Broad Street High School (Class of 1970). Upon
graduating he attended Jarvis Christian University. He was employed by D&L Company
Cleveland, MS. until the company shut-down. Later he went on to work for the Mississippi
Department of Corrections until he retired in 2014. After retiring from the Mississippi
Department of Correction, he worked part-time as a Security Officer at Baxter Healthcare in
Cleveland, MS until his health began to decline.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life the late Carolyn Ann Ferguson and to this
union they have two beautiful children, Eric Yarbrough and Angela Ferguson.
Blessed with seventy-one years of life, he is predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Ann Ferguson,
his parents, Samuel (Marie) Ferguson Sr. of Los Angeles, California and Annyce (Arthur)
Baines of Shelby, MS; Maternal Grandparents: Robert and Gertrude Armstrong of Shelby, MS:
Paternal Grandparents Levi and Willie Ferguson of Los Angeles, California; three brothers:
Samuel Ferguson Jr. of Winstonville, MS; Oscar Baines, Richard Baines of Shelby, MS; two
sisters: Linda Baines Moody, Cheryl Bernice Baines of Shelby, Mississippi.
Robert Levi entered eternal life on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Shelby Health and
Rehabilitation Center in Shelby, MS.
Robert Levi leaves to cherish his loving memories his children: Eric (Tifphanie) Yarbrough of
Jackson, TN, and Angela Ferguson of Cleveland, MS; four grandchildren, Carlesia “Mesha,”
Jyrrell, Kylan and Jacelyn; four brothers: Alphonso Ferguson of Los Angeles, CA; Willie (Addie)
Baines of Winstonville, MS., Ray (Margaret) Baines of Shelby, MS; and Larry Baines of
Springfield, IL; four sisters: Yvonne (Bobby) Chambers of St. Louis, MO, Brenda Scott of Los
Angeles, CA, Ella (JW) Baines-McCoy, Gertrude (Reginald) Douglas all of Shelby; and a host of
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

And not be me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
