Robert Garner, Sr. was born on August 18, 1926 to the late Ed and Janie Bradley Garner. He was the oldest child.
He was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church for 50 plus years. He was a deacon and the oldest member. His hobbies were watching sports and eating junk food. He loved “Brims,” barbecue chips, Hershey Kisses and Mike & Ike candy. He made sure he had plenty of peppermints to take to church on Sundays.
Robert is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Dorsey Garner and his second wife, Mary Williams Garner; two sons, Jessie Garner and Robert Garner, Jr.; two brothers, James and ED Garner; two sisters, Lillie Mae Pascoe and Nancy Sanders.
He leaves to cherish fond memories- five daughters- Dorothy Huffman, Carmen Huffman, Johnnie M. Garner and Sandra (Farikas) Thompson all of Mound Bayou, MS; Verestine Garner of Chicago, IL.
Three sons Charles (Regina) Garner and Charles (Ossie) Dorsey of Shelby, MS, and James (Gloria) Gloria of Raleigh, NC.
One sister Louvenia Newbern of Chicago, IL; five brothers, Frank (Bertha) Garner, Charlie Garner, and Tommie Garner all of Chicago, IL, Eugene Garner of Houston, TX and Jessie (Ethel) Garner of Greenville, MS.
He leaves to cherish his memories 63 grands, 99 great grands, and 10 great great grands and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
