Sumone Moné Tanner was born on February 19, 1979, in Cleveland, Mississippi, to the Mary A. Wilson and Percy Lee Tanner. From an early age, Sumone professed her love for the Lord and confessed Christ as her personal Savior. Her faith remained a guiding light throughout her life, shaping her heart, her words, and the way she loved others.
Sumone was educated in the Cleveland School District and, through her determination and perseverance, proudly completed her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) earlier this year at Cordell Transportation. She had recently begun her professional driving career — a goal she was deeply proud of achieving.
Those who knew Sumone knew a woman full of life — kind, funny, strong-willed, and deeply devoted to her family. Her laughter was contagious, her love was real, and her presence could brighten any room.
She entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio. Though her earthly journey has
ended, her spirit continues to live on in the hearts of those who love her most.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her loving mother, Mary A. Wilson and devoted father, Percy Lee Tanner; her paternal grandmother, Florence Harris; Six beloved children — Jamie Williams, Ra’Quan Matthews, D’Eric Matthews; Kevontae Tanner, Sa’Myah Kilgore, and Davonte Tanner and three precious grandchildren who were the apples of her eye — Axel Tanner, Avyn Tanner, and Milaya Black.
Two sisters, Quavette Tanner(Dayton, Ohio); Dominique Harris(Cleveland, MS); four brothers: Eric Jackson(Dayton, Ohio), Percy Tanner(Dayton, Ohio), Jerry Tanner(Fort Worth, Texas), Terrence Daughtry(Byhalia, MS).
She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever remember her loving spirit, kind heart, and beautiful smile.
