Willie James Obituary

Doris, 84 of Renova, Mississippi, passed away on October 12, 2025 at her home in Renova, Mississippi.  Doris was born on August 31, 1941 in Noxapater, MS, to Minverva and Walter Hickmon.  Doris accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois, under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Jones.  Doris and Deiots James united in Holy Matrimony on January 5, 1958.

Doris was preceded in death by her son, Otis James; her daughter, Joyce ‘ZsaZsa’ Hall; her grandson Devon Miller; her granddaughter, Rachelle Williams; her parents Minerva and Walter Hickmon; her mother-in-law, Jessie Jackson and father-in-law Dee James, Sr; and her siblings, Sara Ella (Charlie) Walker, Doss Hickman, Frances Faust, Etter Lee (Andrew) Gordon, Grady Hickman, Robert (Zeporia) Hickman, Sr., Rosie James, and Betty (Rudolph) Shaw.

Although Doris had only a grade school education, she embodied deep wisdom, boundless kindness, and quiet strength that left an enduring mark on all who were fortunate to have known her.

Doris leaves to cherish her fond memories forever: spouse of 67 years, Deiots James; her children; late Joyce Hall (Morries Hall) of Renova, Mississippi; Rochelle James, of Cleveland, Mississippi; Dell James, of Suffolk, Virginia; Teneisha Wesley of Champaign, Illinois; and Yachica James of Renova, Mississippi; her loving and life-long kindred spirited sister, Mrs. Walter Rean (late Cecil) Choice, of Renova, Mississippi; her brother-in-laws Dee James, Jr (Nettie James) and Walter Jackson and sister-in-law, Hattie Wormley; her grandchildren, Otisha Boyd, Anthony James, Aisha James (Kristie Nettles-James), Alisha James-Scott (Jeremy Scott), Jamorris Hall, Avis Neal, Jr., Raymond Gee, Jr. (Kristy Johnson Gee), Delnecia James, Morlijah Hall, Desanie James, Maneia Sparks, Yuri James, Triston Wesley, Treston Wesley, Yumir James, Michael (Jamilia) Allen, Sr., Shamyria Weatherspoon, Shenekia Howard, Lemarcuus Bucker, Medria Williams, and Martini Williams; her great-grandchildren, Raheem, Oniya, Payton, Mya, Kaleigh, Azuri, Jeremiah, Josiah Scott, Deandre, Aubriana, Anthony Jr., Amazn, ChrisTiana, Amari, Presleigh, Avah, Morgan, Rilan, Raine, Brynlee, Myuari, Raylyn, Rhylon, Regal, Devin, Kelsie, Michael Jr., Mickayla; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
